Crossroad 2014 Cape Town

South African artist Roger Williams and German artist Dee One (Dirk Mertin) will be collaborating for a group exhibition at The Black Box gallery in Cape Town titled Crossroad.

Mixing graphic, digital, fine art and street art techniques, they will explore the theme with Dee One providing the street art style and Williams providing the digital and graphic component.

These two artists from different nationalities and cultural backgrounds will meet for the first time in an exhibition that stretches beyond the gallery walls. While in South Africa for this exhibition, D1 and Williams will also be conducting workshops at Funimfundo pre-school in Stanford, and at Young in Prison in Cape Town. These NGO's will further benefit as proceeds of the art sales will be donated in support of the work that these organizations do to improve the lives of they're members.

Crossroad will run at The Black Box from 3 to 22 April 2014

Deeone, Roger and Kuratorin Anne Schmeckies ( thank you :-)

The artist Dirk Mertin, also known as Dee One, dedicates his whole passion to the field of cross media. Illustrations, video-web, graffiti and the design of characters are his skills. Stereotyped thinking is put aside when you look at his artwork. Taking up the cause of beholding the world as a whole, he highlights details and points of view. He never lost touch with his roots in street art and his attachment to Bremerhaven, his place of birth. On the contrary, they run through his constant artistic progress like a thread. Sometimes in colour, sometimes in black-and-white, he very dynamically gives expression to the linking of reality and dreamy imaginations. Much like a Kraken, Dirk Mertin uses the world as his studio. In his home port, the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen, he gives proof of his abilities as a freelance graphic artist. He gave free rein to his vision of "Art United" in various exhibitions
